Surfing Mums meeting times

Next Meeting - 9-11AM
Saturday, Janury 6th, 2007
The Pass, Byron Bay

Jan 3rd - Jan 6th
The bad news is the easterly winds are making every spot unsurfable wed-thur-fri, but the good news is southerly winds are expected to come in on Saturday for our surfing mums meeting! There will be a nice 2-3 foot swell as well.

"Surfing is a special kind of madness, a feeling for the sea, a combination of love, knowledge, respect, fear- instinctive perception gained through repeated contact"

Hive Swimwear Review

By Vanessa Thompson (Byron Bay Surfing Mum)

Finding a pair of swimmers that stays on in the surf is every surfing women's burden. I've certainly never found a pair that I could guarantee would not drop to my knees if I suffered a wipe out. I was always rising out of the water grabbing for both my bikini top and bottom simultaneously and it didn't look good. I've spent the last 5 years surfing in my boardies and rashie with out fail. Its been a lot less stressful and very good for avoiding skin cancer. But now I will have to wear sunscreen after discovering a bikini that actually stays on in the surf and looks good! I tried a pair of Hive swimmers this weekend and not only were was my good surfing buddy Julia saying "they look hot " and giving me a few wolf whistles (someone has to do it) but they stayed on in the surf. At first I kept looking down to make sure they were still on, and miracle of miracles they were!

Surfing at the Pass in my new swimmers

I spent the rest of the surf just enjoying the feeling of the sea water on my skin and the freedom of surfing with out much clothing on. Must be why those guys just wear board shorts all the time. Well done to Kat at Hive Swimwear for creating something that looks good and works as well. The hypocrisy of the surf world has kept us in inappropriate surf bikinis for too long. Enjoy the freedom!
